Canadian Start-up Visa program

The Start-up Visa (SUV) program offers an opportunity to obtain permanent residence for innovative entrepreneurs who qualify, by linking them with Canadian private sector investors that can help the entrepreneurs establish a strong start-up business.  The investor could be any of the following type:

  • Business incubator:  Accepts an applicant into it’s business incubator program
  • Venture capital funding:  Invests at least $200,000 into a qualifying business
  • Angel investor:  Invests at least $75,000 into a qualifying business

For a candidate to qualify for the Start-up Visa program, the requirements are as follows:

  • The business must be actively engaging in business in Canada and must be Incorporated
  • The candidate must own a minimum of 10% of the business
  • No single party may own more than 49% or more of the company

    I’m really interested in pursuing the start up visa. However , I need to incorporate the company in Canada. I’d like to workout the specifics.
